SYMBOLS AND SOUNDS THAT CAN HELP HEAL AMERICA... AND THE WORLD!

Singing the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life gives Peace Oratorio its power. Musicians and singers of all ages, colors and creeds create a musical experience like no other. By seamlessly blending Highlife, gospel, reggae, classical and pop music styles, Peace Oratorio breaks down barriers and shows the way to a world where people can live and work together IN HARMONY. The message of this music is universal love to help build the beloved community so essential to Dr. King's vision.

With its community outreach program, Peace Oratorio gets people young and old singing strong while clapping along on the front line of freedom and understanding. Learning from the courage and conviction of Dr. King and everyone in the civil rights movement, the participants and the audience get an entertaining lesson in civic education that shape their minds and heal their hearts to finish with racism once and for all!  Music has the extraordinary power to soothe the wounds of hatred, so come join our project and help the healing!

              I DREAM A WORLD

                                               inspired by Langston Hughes

Under the sun and under the moon I dream a world where blacks and whites and people of every race, color and creed, the young and the old, the rich and the poor, the sick and the well, the weak and the strong, born in the Americas or born abroad, shall come together sing songs of freedom and love as brothers and sisters.

I dream a world that sings together, wings together and brings together all of our talents and energies to transfigure this torrent of troubles into a river of peace, to heal the bitter wounds of hatred with songs of belonging and songs of believing, strong songs rising up from our blood stained soil and slaves’ bitter toil, songs that sing our nation’s history from the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the Constitution in 1778, the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, the Civil Rights Act in 1964, the Voting Rights Act in 1965 and today in 2021 with passage of the George Floyd Justice Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, so that future generations will see a better, brighter day where shines the sun for each and every one of us.

Here, there and everywhere shall be born into a new world a people who will live together, work together and sing together, voices ringing in glorious harmonies that herald a new era of peace and prosperity for all, with love and happiness for all, and freedom from oppression for all of God’s children on this our beloved planet Earth, under our only sun and under our only moon. Let us dream a new world today!
