This is a tune built around a three part canon with an easy to sing chorus, then a big build up to the rousing coda that really gets the crowd going. The technique of call and response aligned with a 2-Step rhythm are hallmarks of good old style Gospel music and are not only efficient on the stage but in the classroom! Singing back at the leader and at the same time moving their feet as they clap their hands on the offbeats is a remarkably efficient way for kids to develop their musical skills while having fun! I work with the kids in France on the showstopper at the end of the show "Big City of Peace" which is a Gospel 2-Step with a call and response but does not have the tricky canon.
