From the recording Walking A Wounded

Featuring Natalie Gond and Michael Robinson.
The end of "Forever Free" segues gracefully into the mesmerizing and haunting "Walking A Wounded" which is a different kind of duet and one of the highlights of Peace Oratorio. Again this tune is meant to be sung by an African-American and a white singer, hopefully different from the two on the song just before. It has a bit of a Scottish feel to its melody and the lyric too. The length of each performance will depend on the feeling of the moment and the skills of the improvisers whether it be the singers or the musicians or both! In this performance, Natalie Gond and Michael Robinson give an emotional reading, and the Highlites choir and the Peace Oratorio orchestra are right on!
NARRATION : Coretta Scott King  later said “ At that moment it seemed as if the Kingdom of God appeared. But it only lasted a moment.” The assassination of NAACP leader Medgar Evers which preceded the march to Washington by two months had shocked and saddened everyone in the Civil Rights movement, but on September 15th, 1963 at the Sixteenth Street Baptist church in Birmingham, when a bomb killed four little girls innocently playing  there, it sickened the entire nation. And finally, on November 22nd, 1963 when John F. Kennedy was assassinated and the whole world mourned, Martin Luther King  found the proper words to put in perspective these crimes against humanity.
